Emmanuel Akot decommits from Memphis, enrolls at Western Kentucky

Emmanuel Akot has decommitted from Memphis and enrolled at Western Kentucky, he told College Hoops Today.

Akot played last season at Boise State before entering the transfer portal and initially committing to the Tigers.

The 6-8 Akot averaged 10.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists last season for the Broncos, who won 27 games and the Mountain West Conference Tournament.

The addition of Akot immediately makes Western Kentucky a threat to be one of the best non power conference teams in college basketball next season outside of Gonzaga. The Hilltoppers return a potential star in junior point guard Dayvion McKnight (16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.9 steals), the top shot blocker in college basketball in 7-4 center Jamarion Sharp (8.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.6 rebounds), and two capable veterans in Jairus Hamilton (12.7 points, 5.4 rebounds) and Luke Frampton (8.8 points). Western Kentucky also added two power conference transfers in Khristian Lander (Indiana) and Dontaie Allen (Kentucky) as well Jordan Rawls, who started his career with the Hilltoppers and scored 20 points in a road win at Alabama during the 2020-21 season.

The Hilltoppers finished 19-13 last season.
